ReplyDelete1. The role of the mother is a typical example of a middle class house wife but she differs a bit due to her ill health and poverty. She has to depend on her children to perform physical tasks like washing clothes and baby sitting the child. She engages in heated conversations with their landlord as he asks her to pay the rent which they didn't do for several months.
The father portrays a poor man who has to work everyday to make their living. He sells tea and goes for daily wage jobs like gardening. He differs from a common family man as he finds it difficult to meet their family's financial needs. He can't pay his house rent, can't buy a pair of shoes for his children, has increasing debts in the vegetable shop, etc.
The role of Ali and Zhara are quite different middle class children. In a common family, children are not expected to accompany their father to work, to perform physical tasks like washing clothes, and also not expected to babysit an infant. Instead they are just expected to play and study.
2. The race is a great mix of emotions. Ali is determined to enter the contest and even begs his PE teacher for that since he has to win the third prize to get a pair of sneakers. When Ali is exhausted he thinks of the promise he made to his sister that he will get the third prize and runs fast. He is more determined to get the pair of sneakers than to come first. He even lets two children to overtake him at first. He becomes sad when he comes to know that he finished first as he will not get the sneakers.
3. Ali's father takes him uptown along with him as he got equipments for gardening and thinks that he can make some money even in Fridays if he works in the town. At first Ali's father is hesitant to ask house owners if they needed their service. He rings bell, gets scared when the house owner replies and runs away.
Seeing his father struggling, Ali wisely asks the house owner if they need any gardeners. He even manages to get a job when a child took the call.
4.The children in the movie shows many moral values.
Ali and Zhara both are well aware of their family condition and they help their parents. They know that they can't ask their father for a pair of shoes as he is not having much money.
Ali didn't take revenge or charge the boy who pushed him down during the race.
Zhara, despite knowing that the shoes worn by another girl was hers, didn't attack her or steal those shoes back.
The girl with Zhara's shoes returns her pen that she missed the previous day.
The kids are obedient to their parents and performs the task assigned to them by their mother without any resistance.
5. A clear example of rising action is when Ali leaves his sister's shoes outside the vegetable shop and a rag picker takes it away.
Ali confess the truth to Zhara when she wanted to see her shoes.
The kids were pushed to a situation where they have to find a way to get Zhara a pair of shoes for her to go to school till Ali gets the shoes back.
They tried to solve the problem temporarily by sharing Ali's sneakers to school. But it didn't go well as Ali was late to school for many days.
They didn't ask for help from anyone, they didn't want to trouble their parents and tried to solve the problem themselves. But at last their father was shown buying two pairs of new shoes for them.
6.The director ended the film in a suitable way. He stopped at the moment when Ali came back home without new sneakers and their father returning home with new pairs of shoes for them.
He didn't show how the children was excited and relieved on spotting the new pairs of shoes. He thought he just couldn't film that much joy in a single frame. So he left it to the audience. He left the audience to imagine themselves how happy the children would be on seeing those shoes.
Yes it is of course a happy ending as those children need not sprint to exchange shoes anymore and also need not feel low seeing others' shoes. They can now happily wear those new shoes of them to school.
1.Ali and Zahra have taken responsibilities way beyond their age and understanding.Even amidst their family’s situation, they manage to do their best in studies and extra curricular activities. They don’t even sulk or whine when things don’t go their way especially when Zahra is asked to pour tea for her father when she finally sits down to finish her homework or when Ali gets bread or is asked to deliver the relatively heavy sugar to his father.Children of their age in current times are hardly even asked to do as much as enter the kitchen or manage their younger siblings. They are left to enjoy their childhood, get spoiled and pampered with all that their heart desires without having the slightest knowledge of family finances or the concept of saving money.Few households however in the lower middle class society do face such situations where the children are at least aware of the crisis the family might be facing and act accordingly.Very rarely do we find them working or doing errands.
ReplyDeleteAli and Zahra even thought just barely 9 years old, find joy in the simplest things and also get upset or worried if things are in distress knowing that it would only add on to the hardships the family is facing. The father, who is the only bread-winner of the family finds himself clueless at times, not knowing what other challenge he would face. The mother, being unwell, manages to do her duty as a housewife and also tries her best to give their children a memorable childhood.
2.Ali initially did not plan on taking part in the race as it would lead to more wear and tear of the only pair of sneakers 2 people owned and shared. On hearing the award of a pair of sneakers for 2nd runner-up in the main event,Ali saw this as the perfect opportunity to get a pair for his sister. After a lot of convincing he managed to showcase his athletic skills to the coach who took him along with the other selected boys for the long distance race.Hundreds of children had come to participate but his mind was fixated on his goal. When the last leg of the race approached, the front runners became desperate and one of the boys nudged Ali which make him to trip and lose momentum.Struggling to get back into the race, the fact that he wanted to stay 3rd in line slipped out of his mind and he managed to get the first place. His plan of getting the sneakers was shattered.Even thought people around him seemed to celebrate his victory,he could not get past the thought of conveying his defeat to his sister. The entire concept of a race is to win it but Ali being the selfless kid he is,doesn't seem to show any kind of pride or acknowledgement of the incredible feat he just accomplished. He is more concerned about his broken promise.
3.Ali’s family have dwelled in the countryside and have hardly seen anything beyond the the poverty stricken neighbourhood of Iran. The father and son duo set off to town in search of houses in need of a gardener.Being clueless at how to enquire the residents, the father struggles in the task and almost gets kicked out by them.He is left confused and in doubt of how to go about further on.This is where Ali steps in.He,being prehaps more educated than his father handles the situation with more confidence and straight-forward questions. This innocent and mature nature that he displays helps him bag a job even without his knowledge for his father. They manage to earn quite a sum and Ali also earns a friend at the end of the visit.
4.The movie as a whole showcased quite a few values.
ReplyDeletea.Family: The entire story revolved around the family of 5 and the hardships they face.Be it the fact that they couldn’t pay the rent to the fact of the lady of the house being sick, whatever issue they faced was tacked together as one family. The children show immense mental maturity understanding the family’s financial situation and act accordingly even if it meant giving up privileges which would bring them joy(Ali declining the offer to playing soccer,Zahra finishing her exam quickly,Ali giving the pen to his sister)
b.Adjusting and compromising:Zahra could at any point of time blamed her brother for losing her shoes and brought out the secret to her parents but never even came close to doing so even once. The whole scene of exchanging the one pair of worn out sneakers day after day, running from home to school and vise a versa and Ali initially not willing to take part in the running race are all instances which show their accommodative nature.
c.Never hurt anyone: Both the siblings set off to the girl’s house to claim Zahra’s shoes. However they return empty handed. They empathise when they catch sight of the girl’s blind father who seems to be facing an equally hard situation.Without a word but with mutual consent, they don’t even try talking to the family and come straight back home.
The film also portrayed few other values such as showing respect, taking responsibility for one’s actions and being loyal especially when the father refused to use the sugar provided by the mosque.
5.After a few days of the whole process of exchanging shoes, they were found dirty after all the running and wear and tear it was subjected to.Ali came up with a simple solution of washing them when Zahra refused to wear them the following day to school. While doing so the two have their share of fun and amusement any child of their age ought to experience. The white sneakers are left to dry out in the sun. However, they receive heavy rains that night which keeps Zahra awake and anxious. She wakes up Ali and tells her about how the shoes would be wet the next day because of the downpour and that she was scared to go out to get them in.Ali steps up and quickly brings them under a roofed space, salvaging them from what could have been a traumatic morning.
6.Even though the director doesn’t end the movie in a happy note,it is understood that eventually the father would give them the new pair of shoes to Ali and Zahra who have lost all hope of not getting the sneakers from the race.Even at the end,Zahra accepts the fact of not getting the sneakers and continues to go back to her household duties succumbing to reality.Ali,heartbroken for not being to able keep his promise rests his sore feet into the cool water with no sign of hope. The director uses the gold fish as a metaphor owing to the fact of them being considered a symbol of luck in Iranian culture. The director end the film on a bitter-sweet note for on one hand the father manages to buy shoes for the kids and on the the kids experience momentary sorrow unaware of the fact that the long time issue had been solved.
1. Ali and Zahra are given chores and are assigned specific work to aid their mother. In my family, my sister and me are also given certain responsibilities that we are expected to complete daily. In the movie, the father is the breadwinner of the family and works relentlessly to provide for his
ReplyDeletefamily. The mother, although ill, tries her best to be of help to her family by doing the cooking, cleaning and other work related to the house. Ali is given the job of assisting his mother with strenuous work and doing small chores that require leaving the house. Zahra also assists her mother and also helps take care of the baby. My sister and me have responsibilities similar to Ali
that require helping our mother.
2. The race displays the Ali's determination to right the mistake that he made. He has a strong sense of responsibility for his sister and wants to get her a new pair of shoes. The race is also where the purpose of the whole story of Ali unfolds. Although he is pushed around and falls down, he always gets back up and rejoins the race, keeping his goal in mind. His priority is his sister and he does everything in his power to get her what she needs.
3. Ali's father is not used to the conversing with the upper class section of the society and is awkward due to his lack of eloquency. Ali, being quick on his feet, explained the purpose of their visit to the people in the neighborhood in a more comprehensive way. His fluency resulted in him befriending a young boy from the neighborhood which in turn gave his father an opportunity to work and earn a large sum of money.
4. This film emphasizes the importance of family values, where the children try their best to do deeds that benefit their parents and each other. It exhibits the love that the little children had for
each other and the sense of responsibility they held. Despite being only nine years of age, Ali
holds a strong sense of responsibility of helping his family and correcting his mistakes.
5. When Ali initially lost Zahra's shoes, he chooses to reveal it to Zahra and pleads for her to keep it a secret from their parents. Although reluctant at first, Zahra agrees to keep her brothers mistake from their parents. They then plan to share one pair of shoes in order to not further burden their parents. They rely on each other as much as they can to overcome their problems.
6. I believe the director chose to end the movie the way he did because he wants to leave the happy ending to our imagination. The only reason Ali was upset he placed first in the race was because he was unable to obtain the sneakers as a prize. But now that his father has bought
them both a new pair of shoes, it shows that in the end, there's nothing Ali has to be upset about and leaves his reaction to our imagination.

1.There are really no different.when I was a child,I used to help my father's small business.but Zahra's role ,I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteMostly my parents expected me to do some work that came from outside.i do some buying stuff in near grocery shops.my parents aren't compare my works with anyone.
2.why is the race so epic?
Because if ali win a third place,he can get a pair of sneakers.so he can replace the sneakers of sister that he lost in the first place.
3.His father was relly nervous and feared, that is exactly why his father not been able to get a garden job.And ali is a street boy.so, eventually he managed the situation.
4.The story tells a very good love between brother and sister.and more importantly that one person wants something really bad,he or she will get that by some level.
5.ali lost a sneakers of his sister and sister Zahra wants to wear a sneakers for school. There is a need a two pair of shoes and if parents konw that they gonna hit them both and also they can't afford to buy a new sneakers. This scene make ali and Zahra in a real trouble.
They solved the problem by themselves.afet a class of Zahra, she will have to handover the sneakers to her brother. So he can make to the school.but the last scene their father buy a new two pair of sneakers.
6. ofcourse there is a happy ending.
1)There are some similarities in ali's and zhara's family when compared to my family. Ali and zhara were good children to their parent. They didn't want to much burden on his father as they hide that shoe was lost. Ali's father not had money and Ali's mother
ReplyDeleteWas sick and she needed Ali's help to certain things like washing clothes etc.. I think in their family there is too much burden on their children which is not at all fair at that point of age. In our family, I usually help my mom and dad in small things and I usually go to shop for buying necessary household things.
2) The race was very important to Ali as he needed sneekers for his sister Zhara. First of all he didn't in the race but pleased his PE teacher for a chance and he ended by putting his name on the list. He wants to be in 3rd place to get that sneekers but unfortunately or fortunately he has won the race. Zhara was upset because she didn't get that shoe. Ali apologised to zhara for his mistake.
3) Ali and his father went for work to town by cycle for 15km as there was no rich people near by his house. After a long journey they went onto reach the town. They asked all the house owner for cleaning their garden but they refused. At last cycle tyre got repaired his father repairing the cycle. At that time, a small boy came from house and asked Ali to play with him but he refused to do and he asked he needs to clean his garden. The grandfather asked them clean the house garden. Ali and his father was so happy. His father did a good job and he did extra work also. House owner was happy and he gave more money to Ali's father. Both of them were very happy.
4) Children of heaven has lot of moral values. They shared the work in the houses and Ali and Zhara did many sacrifice for their family. With the limited resources they were happy.
5) Once the shoe was lost, Ali was upset and he knew Zhara was keen about his shoe. He said that shoe was lost Zhara too felt sad and she asked Ali what she did wear tomorrow for school. Both of them knew that their parents were not in the situation yo buy new shoe so they planned a idea that morning Zhara can wear the shoe and In the afternoon Ali can wear it.
6) Yes it was happy ending Ali's father brought many items and shoe for their kids. But the director didn't showed it.
1. Ali and zahra family are different from our family because Ali family is financially in trouble for example ali also fears to tell his parents about a mishap. Ali's Father is anxious to earn money and Ali's mother is ill person and taking care of her family. Ali and zahra is studying. Ali's father is working but father didn't absorbed their children for example everyday Ali went to school late. Ali's mother who is taking care his family is ok but she didn't ask her children problems. Zahra and Ali who love each other , instead of fighting. Then our job in our family is taking care of parents and concentrate on our studies.
ReplyDelete2. Ali is determined to get 3rd prize where he get one week vacation camp and pair of sneakers. He is very much determined to get price. During race also he thinks about situation he faced. He even let 2 children to go first because he have to get 3rd prize. But he became sad after knowing about his first prize.
3. Ali and his father went to luxury home whe he hopes to get gardener work. But he is intimated by challenge to speak through intercoms on the gate of wealthy. But ali proves to be a great help for his intimated father. Finally they got great triumph.
4. I really admired by Ali's phenomenal acting and zahra's adorable and matured character. This stories tells that we have to accept the situation and focus on the solution not on the problems.
5. This movie has many moral values. Ali and zahra know their parents situation so they decided to share Ali's sneakers.zahra wear it to school in morning and return it to him so ali can wear it for midday class. But they plan was not workout though how hard they both runs . Ali attended the class and got scold from principal but fortunately he got help from his teacher. But that sneakers problem was not solved , both of them aware about their parents problem. But atlast father was shown buying the two pairs of shoes.
6. The film offers very minimal communication through dialogues and focuses more on visual to drive the story forward, which helps the narrative effectively. It is actually a happy ending where he got first prize and his father also bought a 2 pairs of sneakers. Though the director didn't show how the children will get excitement while seeing sneakers.
1. There are no difference. I could help my mother and father small work. The main character struggle in facing their soci economic problems. Ali's mother was a middle class house wife and she is poor health condition of their mother
ReplyDeleteThen Father is happy to see his daughter obey the mother and sincerely help mothe r.he plan make money by gardening services door to door and he sell tea and sugar to daily wage job the different from commen family man to find to need the financial needs.
Ali and zahra are there good brother and sister and. They sharing a pake of sneakers. Zahra understand her family condition. Zahra is whole heartedly willing to help her mother to look after her younger. She also
does the house works and taking her mother job since she is sick, like washing the clothes,
cooking.
2. the end of the film, a running contest is organised among the children of various schools. The third price is a pair of sneakers for the competition and perfect prize to repair Ali and Zahra’s situation. It is the ultimate chance for Ali to make things right. A final showcase of the incredible lengths he is willing to go through for the sister he cares so much for. However, Ali is so focused on coming in third and perhaps boosted by the training he gives himself running to school, that he accidentally comes in first. He goes home defeated.
3. When Ali and his father go uptown to find gardening work, Ali’s father is so intimated by the wealth and status of their potential employers, that he fails to get a foot at the door. Ali, however, has no such reservations. When he connects to another boy, he sees, above all, just another child, and subsequently succeeds at getting his father a job. The scene shows us the simple purity of connecting to another human being, a reminder of something that for many of us was once the easiest thing in the world, but seems much more difficult now.
4. Children of Heaven is a film that raises a spiritual theme. The film tells the story of a child's faith in facing some social problems, especially poverty. That in Children of Heaven, there is a very valuable moral value and it can be used as moral learning for children.
5.It sets a precedent for the rest of the film, as a gesture of their bonding and mutual understanding, they decide to keep their problem a secret from their parents.they come up with a solution of their own; since they don’t go to school at the same time, They are agreed to use
Ali’s shoes, Zahra will use the shoes in the morning since she goes to school in the morning,
while Ali will use it after Zahra finishes studying as Ali start the class at noon. This situation
is not easy, it requires Ali and Zahra always have to hurry so that Ali will not late for school.
6. The majid majidi end the film was suitable way to run a long-distance race and win the third-place prize of running shoes for Zahra. From the way the family prepares sugar cubes to be served at a mosque to the way Zahra helps care for elderly neighbors. I realize that the happy ending would finish it too neatly because, I loved the silent exchange between brother and sister.

ReplyDelete1)"Children of heaven "is about a home without happiness. In this movie, their mother is ill and the two of their children Ali and Zahra must do a lot of the house work. Their overworked father earns very little selling tea at the mosque. And then they have to take care of their sibling. They done lot of works to their parents without any expectations. Of course, me and my siblings have some responsibilities to lower the work of our parents. I think me and my siblings are doing that.
2)Ali learns that there is a running contest is organized among the children of various schools. The third prize is a pair of sneakers for the competition and perfect prize to repair Ali and Zahra's situation.

When he connects to another boy,he sees, above all, just another child, and subsequently succeeds at getting his father a job. This scene shows us the simple purity of connecting to another human being, a remainder of something that for many of us was once the easiest thing in the world, but seems much more difficult now.
4)This film is about the brother and sister who love one another instead of fighting. This film tells importance of family and adjusting nature for the family members.
5)Ali loses his sister's shoes. Zahra agrees to keep the lose a secret from his parents until they find. In the meantime, Ali and Zahra must share his shoes.Zahra wearing them in the mornings to school and Ali in the afternoons. They don't put more burden on their parents.
6)Majidi gives us a reflection of our awakening spiritual lives, immature in its understanding of the world, but profoundly rich in its emotional experience of it.And beautifully captures the qualities and struggles present in every child, their intuitive awareness and sensitivity to serious issues like poverty and illness, their great capacity for joy, love and compassion, their vulnerability and resilience. Above all, he shows the life of a child with the inherent dignity it deserves, and that, to me,is what makes children of heaven the best film about childhood.
1.Ali and Zahra are basically from a poor family who lives below poverty line. The role of Ali is to help his mom and dad with their works, mainly accompanying his dad to city to help him out and that of Zahra is to take care of the younger baby and help her mom with household chores. To talk about me and my family, the main work is to obviously study and me and my sister helps our mom and dad in doing some small works.
ReplyDelete2.The race is an opportunity for Ali to make his sister happy as they provided the second runner up with a pair of sneakers which Zahra wanted.Ali did his best to win the third prize but eventually he gets to know that he won the first place and that didn't make him happy and that's the irony .
3. Ali and his father rides a bicycle and travels to uptown so that they could make some money which would help his family.Ali's father was uncomfortable because he didn't know how to converse and get the job but Ali helps him out and they both get a job to maintain the garden and make some good money.
4. The first thing that hit me hard was that we take our life for granted and there are people who struggle so much for food and living and we still complain about our life for silly things. The thing I learnt is we shouldn't take anything for granted and be happy with what we have.
5. The problem is that Ali loses Zahra shoes and they didn't want to say that to their father because he couldn't afford a new shoe,so Ali and Zahra manages to use Ali's shoe which eventually made Ali end up to his school lately and get scolding from his teacher. They both face many problem but nevertheless they ended up managing it very well. They tried to solve it on their own and they pretty much managed it so well eventhough Ali could not buy Zahra a new pair of sneakers.
6. Definitily it would have been a happy ending for the viewers if the director managed us to show the scenes after Ali's father hand them their new shoes nevertheless Ali and Zahra would have been happy which the director didn't intend to show.
1. We can see that the mother's and father's roles are similar to what we can see in our houses. Ali's mother takes care of the family whereas his father does odd jobs to financially support them. Ali and Zahara are expected to help their parents. They consider it as a responsibility. Although we are asked to do small chores in our homes, they are not considered as a responsibility. But rather our main job is to study. Ali and Zahara manage to help their family, at the same time excel in their studies.
ReplyDelete2. I feel the race is epic because when the other children are seeing it only as a competition, for Ali its a need . He would not have taken part in this race of it weren't for the sneakers. And we can see that he is motivated by his need to win the shoes for his sister and his training were the days when he and his sister ran all the way to their schools when they shared the same sneaker.
3. When Ali's father gets a couple of gardening equipment from one of his friends, he decides to try his luck as a gardener. So on a holiday he takes Ali and goes uptown to find some job. During the travel we can see the stark difference between the two places. There are better transportation facilities and huge buildings, multiple cars in the uptown area. This bewilders Ali's father from the beginning. He is unaware about the way of the people and his initial incident makes him tight lipped. When Ali sees his father struggle, he comes to his rescue. He confidently explain why they are there. This makes his father proud and eventually Ali also manages to get his father a job in a house. They manage to make some money and are elated about it yet it is short lived as they soon meet with a minor accident.
4. Children of heaven teaches us a lot. We can see that both the children even in a very young age understand their family situation. They help their parents in whatever ways they can. When Zahra's shoes are lost we see that they do not pressurized their parents to buy a new one. Instead they try to manage with whatever they have. The love and affection showed by siblings is heart warming. In many instances we see the pureness of their hearts. The film taught us to be happy with what we have instead of complaining about what we don't. Whatever maybe the difficult they always faced it as a family. It also taught us to not judge anyone without knowing the truth and to always be honest.
5. During Zahra's school assembly she finds her shoes worn by one of the students present there. She is unable to clearly see the face of the girl so during her break time she goes around trying to find her. She is successful in her endeavour. Instead of confronting then and there she follows the girl and finds out where she lives. After reaching home she informs Ali about this and together they go to the girls house to ask them about the shoes. But, once they are near the girls house, they come to know that she has a blind father and they are in the same state as their family is. The decision made my the children shows us that they truly are from heaven. Instead of inquiring the girl about the shoes they return home.
ReplyDelete6. I think Majidi end the film this way to show us the true reality. Ali was totally exhausted that he was unable to comprehend which place he was about to be. His only goal was to be third and when he came close and was pulled by another boy, his only thought was to get near the third place again. Also this shows us state of their livelihood. Although Ali came first place he was unable to be happy because he has lost the sneakers. This may not be a happy ending but it was a realistic one. We can also see that Ali's father had bought both of them a new pair of shoes. The film left me with a bowl of emotions. The childrens disappointment will soon disappears and they will rejoice once they find out that their father had bought them new shoes. But this leaves me with the thought about Ali's hardwork get win his sister the pair of sneakers. The film gives us the realisation that this is how life works. We may not always get what we wanted the moment we want it but it will come to us when we least expect it.

ReplyDelete1).In this film, all are helping each other. Even though they are struggling for the survival, they did not cut down their daily responsibilities. Ali and Zahra also understood their family condition and did not ask anything for themselves to their parents. Our society also having families like this but We are not noticed it. This film showcase that type of poor family struggling in a natural way.
2).One day, there was a competition in their school for a running race and Ali saw that the third place gets to have new sneakers. The teacher have already selected the students that will join the race. Ali begged his teacher that he should be a part of the race and promised that he will win. Ali joins the race and because of his strong desire to get the new sneakers, instead of winning the third place, he actually became the first place. Despite his teachers and all the people congratulating him, he cried because he wasn’t able to get the new sneakers.
3).This film has a wonderful scene where Ali and his father bicycle from the almost medieval streets of the old town to the high-rises and luxury homes where the rich people live. The father hopes for work as a gardener, but he feels uncomfortable learned to ask the job because the wealthy ones are insulted him badly. His son jumps in, with offers of weeding, spraying and trimming. It is a great triumph.
4).The film recreated poverty and suffering of millions of people all over the world. It shows in a very natural, but dramatic way how poverty and culture and domination, both work together to cause social issues. The siblings help each other in their small difficulties is extremely touching. From this, we will inferred that even though in extreme hard circumstances, we will face that situation.*
5). Ali didn’t want their parents to find out about his sister’s lost shoes, he told Zahra they could use his sneakers alternately when going to school. But his sister was too ashamed to wear a boy’s sneakers and got mad. She warned Ali that she would tell their parents but he explained to her that she should understand their parents could not buy her new ones and that they would just be both scolded. So everyday, they take turns on wearing the sneakers. Ali came in class late. He even got scolded by the principal and was asked why he comes to class late but he couldn’t tell the real reason. This shows that they are very understanding to help each other and could not reported others.
6)."Children of Heaven'' is about a home of care without money. About a brother and sister who love one another, instead of fighting. About situations any child can identify with. In this film, we will came to know about the families of poor who work for a whole day for a single plate of food but we are not acknowledged it. Like this films it revealed out into the society.
1)Ali and Zahra are expected to help their family with household works and me at that age was not expected to do that sorts of work Ali and Zahra does. For Ali and Zahra it is necessary for them to help their parents out to get a bread in their plate and a peaceful living which explains their financial state. Me at that age the main goals was to study, eat healthy and play with kids of my age.
ReplyDelete2)The race was so epic for ali because the 3rd prize is a pair of sneakers which his sister badly wanted. Since he lost her sneakers he was so determined to get her one without bothering his father who is already getting very less income. In order to come in 3rd place he allowed two competitors to pass him, they even pushed him down but he never gave up but in the end he finished first instead which made him unhappy despite of winning.
3)His father couldn't speak properly it clearly depicts the inferiority complex of him. When they were questioning he struggled to answer them but whereas Ali on the other hand answered them so easily without any fear. He was so confident while speaking and in the end he even manages to get a job for his father.
4)We just need to act accordingly to the situation of our family. We may have wishes but we cannot always hope for it to happen and its our sole responsibility to take care of every one in our family.
5)The main problem between them is that Ali has lost zahra's sneakers when he took them to get stritched. But he doesn't want her to inform it to thier father since thier father would become so angry as he was already facing many problems. So he came out with an idea.He decided to give his shoes to her so that she can wear it to school and after it ended they would switch it and then Ali would wear it to school. Even though they faced many problems while exchanging they decided to handle it themselves without bothering their father. They even succeeded in managing. This act was really far beyond their ages.
6)The end was very good. He gave an happy ending. We may be little worried about Ali coming 1st and was unable to get her sister the pair of sneakers which she wanted. The scene of zahra looking at Ali when he came without sneakers was quite emotional but when we saw that his father bought both of them new sneakers we surely felt relieved as they got solution to all thier struggles .
1. Ali and Zahra are more helpful and loyal to their family. They don't even ask for their needs. They do more work when compared to their age and they don't even ask for new shoes. Ali's mom was sick . She needs help to clean clothes and dishes. Ali's father works hard but couldn't compete the family's daily needs. Ali and Zhara had not even thought about playing. When compared to it, my family I do little help to my parents.
ReplyDelete2. Ali participated in race with some obstacles and race is mixed with more emotions. He convinced his PE teacher to add his name in the race. The main thing is to get sneakers for his sister. So he participated in the race. Instead of getting third prize, the sneakers, he got first. Zhara got disappointed as his brother didn't get sneakers for her.
3. Ali and his father went in search of work. In the beginning Ali's father had some fear to ask for household work in the gates of wealthy. But Ali managed to do so. A little boy came to Ali and asked Ali to play with him. Ali refused as he had to work with his father. Atlast, they found garden cleaning work and with that they did some household stuffs made them earn money.
4. Story conveys many morals like understanding between their family members and children working for upliftment of their family instead of playing. Story is filled with emotional acting of personalities.
5. Ali lost Zahra's shoes, which disappointed her. To solve this problem, Zahra decided to wear Ali's shoe in morning and then afternoon made Ali to wear the shoes. By surprising their children his father bought shoes at the end.
6. Director gave ending in viewers hands such that Ali's father bought two pairs of shoes for their children. Movie taken in a positive way along with emotional content in mixed.
1.Eight-year-old Ali and his younger sister Zahra are used to taking up much more responsibility than their age warrants. Though Ali's mother is sick, she does household works. Ali's father works too hard to fulfil the daily needs of his family.
ReplyDeleteIn my family, I'm expected to study well and help my mother at times. When compared to Ali & Zahra, it's quite less similar.
2.The only thought of Ali is to get 3rd prize, the shoes, for Zahra. With all his efforts, he was able to join the race. He successfully completely the race 1st but the victory didn't make him happy as he couldn't gift the shoes to Zahra. He took a lot of efforts and was so selfless, which made the race so epic.
3.Ali and his father went to uptown hoping to get some garden works to earn money. Ali's father felt uncomfortable to speak in the gates of the wealthy. Ali had no such feeling and helped his father to get the work.
4. - Ali & Zahra understood their family situation and didn't demand anything.
- They managed to tackle the problems of their own.
- The family was helpful to eachother in hard times.
- Everyone were selfless.
5. Ali lost Zahra's shoes. Ali didn't want their parents to find out about his sister's lost shoes but Zahra needs her shoes for the school tomorrow. Ali told Zahra they could use his sneakers alternately when going to school. They figured out a solution on their own.
6. Yes, it is a happy ending. Finally, Ali and Zahra got new shoes. Majidi wanted us to imagine the rest of the story hence the story ended with showing the new shoes and not the children's excitement.
1.some roles in Ali and Zhara's are similar and some are different to my family. The role of father and mother are similar to ours. The fear of children towards their parents are also similar. The mother seems to be a sick woman who takes care of her family in midst of poverty. The father seems to the be one who bears the family burdens financially. Ali seems to be a responsible elder son who doesn't want to add troubles to his family from his side. Zhara seems to be a supportive sister and helpful daughter . The parents are expected to give little more space for their children for them to convey their points of distress. They must try to be a little more understanding and give their children their space to open up and speak. The children must also be conscious and careful. They must also develop the tendency to put forth their problems to their parents. In a common middle class family like ours The children are expected to study well and take care of their future and if needed a little bit of assistantance to parents. But here Ali and Zhara holds stuff way beyond their capacity . Ali assists his father more at an age where he is meant to enjoy and Zhara assisting the family, helping with the household works along with her studies. They are potrayed as if to excel as an allrounder.
ReplyDelete2.Ali's mind set was to finish the race as the second runner up so that he would get the sneakers and hand it to his sister. In such stress he pushed himself more and obtained the first place . He was under pressure ,unknowingly went past the first two boys . In an attempt to obtain the third he got the first place. He became sad on breaking the promise of getting the sneakers.
3.Ali's father took Ali along with him to the uptown in order to find if someone needs the help of garderners. But the father felt uncomfortable in knocking the doors of the people there and seeking them to find if they need help from gardeners. Ali on understanding this situation helped his father by asking the people politely and wisely if they needed any help and worked to it .
4.Both the children didn't fail to support their family even when they were in trouble. They didn't even spread a bit of hatred to anyone throughout the movie. They were helpful to their parents. Ali and Zhara didn't want to trouble their parents for sneakers. Zhara politely handeled the situation when she knew her sneakers were stolen. The moral values they reflect proves the title 'the children of heaven'.
5.zhara once left one of the sneakers which was his brother's in a small running stream. She followed it all the way trying to lift the sneaker from the stream. But the sneaker got stuck when it entered a small tunnel in midst of trash. The shopkeeper near by helped her by using a stick and removing the trash so that the water flow without hurdles. Then zhara followed it and got it out of the water.
6.the director has ended the movie in the way he did . The relief the children would get on seeing the sneakers is unimaginable. They would be greatly relieved and feel excited. The struggle was great but the relief would be greater. The movie definitely has a happy ending because the relief is not only for the children but also for the audience.

ReplyDelete1. This family is different from our family because they are financially unstable. Ali's father is determined to earn money and Ali's mother is taking care of her family. The role of Ali and Zhara are quite different middle class children. In a common family, children are not expected to accompany their father to work, to perform physical tasks like washing clothes, and also not expected to babysit an infant. Instead they are just expected to play and study.our duty is taking care of our family and concentrate on our responsibility.
2. Actually Ali is not interested in race. But after knowing the 3rd prize was sneakers. He gave his name to get shoes for his sister. He is very much determined to get shoe he even let 2 children to go first.
3. Ali's father bought garden equipment and thinks that he can make some money even in Fridays if he works in the town and went to luxury home with his son. He hoped to get some garden work. But he doesn't know how to speak to wealthy.Ali seeing his fathers struggle,he help him to get triumph.
4. I really enjoyed this film. It gave wonderful msg that is focus on your problems you definitely get a solution for that..In the midst of poverty, CHILDREN OF HEAVEN affirms life, love, family, perseverance, and compassion. The trials and tribulations are real life events, yet the movie is always captivating, more so than many effects-laden action adventure films. This gem deserves to be seen and appreciated
5. In this movie, when both kids decided to share sneakers because they aware about their parents situation. Zahra will have it during morning. After her school gets over, she run towards his brother. Then Ali go to school. This plan actually made ali late to school. He got scolding from principal . But finally their father only bought shoes for them
6. This film has Happy ending though the director didn't show in picture how both children gets happy after seeing shoes which was bought by their father.Majidi's poetic endings that gives importance on revival, or the destruction of the new and beloved which is then replaced by the new
1) The roles of Ali and Zahra's family are quite similar to those in my family. Ali’s mother does her best to do the chores, even though she is ill. My mom does most of the chores in my home. In this film, Ali and Zahra have a lot of responsibilities as children as well as students. Now, I have certain responsibilities but as a kid, I didn’t have any except to study well. I was a carefree child then. So, their roles are completely different from mine. All fathers strive for the well-being of their kids. Likewise, in this film, Ali’s father tries to earn money by doing various jobs like breaking the sugar, making tea, gardening. He bought the shoes once he earned the money. Kind of strict, but a loving father!
ReplyDelete2) In this race, Ali’s motive was not to win the first place but the third. He wanted to give the present, a pair of sneakers, to his sister. So, he requests the trainer to include his name in the list. Upon seeing his performance, the trainer also entered his name. With his sister in mind, he ran to win despite injuring his legs. He was guilty as he was the one who lost it in the first place. He was unable to make the most of the moment after the race because he came first not third.
3) Ali and his father go uptown to find some gardening work, anxious to earn money. The father feels uncomfortable talking through the intercom. I think he was intimated by the wealth of others and felt inferior, which made him keep his tongue-tied. However, Ali had no such reservations and was capable of communicating easily. Ali helped his dad ask around the block if anyone needed gardeners. Eventually, they find a mansion in which a six-year-old boy named Alireza lives under his grandfather’s care. Ali’s dad does all the gardening and gets paid by the grandfather.
4)Throughout the film, Ali and Zahra respect the elders and help their parents. The kids understand and adjust to their family’s financial circumstances. They shared their shoes instead of complaining or arguing with each other. This shows how much love and care for one another and the responsibility they have.
5) In the scene when Ali discloses that he lost the shoes, Zahra wanted to bring the news to her parents. But Ali stopped her stating the family's situation which led to a dilemma that Ali and Zahra must work out. They share their shoes every day to school and also try to find Zahra's shoes. In the end, Ali joins the race to win so that he can trade the prize and get a new pair of shoes for his sister. They didn’t get any help and tried to deal with the problem themselves.
6) I think the director gave an open ending to the film letting the audience imagine. He didn’t show the reactions of the children after getting the new shoes. In the end, Ali was sad because he didn’t win the race and the old pair of shoes was also ripped. But if had known that his dad had bought a new pair of shoes for them, he would have been on cloud nine. That should be a happy ending!
2. Race is so epic because the t get third prize of the race is a holiday camp and pair of sneakers. He decides that by winning the race he gets pair of sneakers for his sister who runs after the school to give the sneakers to his brother. Ali is one who lost her shoes eventhough she did not mind that and she runs to deliver the shoes and she also understands the poverty situation of the family.
ReplyDelete4. You should respect what you have and don’t throw it just give to the needy people which is very precious for them. To show the kindness to the people. Eventhough you are in the poverty situation you should not steal even the small thing (in the movie ex: sugar cube). You should help others whatever help you can do. You should be happy on what you have. You should do the work or you should buy the thing(shoe) by yourself don’t depend too much on the parent. Scarifies the happiness for the parents and help your parents when they are in need.
1. Ali and Zahra’s is different from my family where my brother and myself doesn’t bother about the household chores but we help sometimes but not much. They where lot of scarification faced by the children because of the family situation and ali understands it well in the age of nine. In the flim even from their childhoods they have lot of work to do where ali would go out and purchase the foods and vegetables and the father would go out and do some work and bring some money to the for their daily needs. Zara and her mother were taking care of the children doing some household work. The common thing between the two children is they go to the schools to get education. My job in the home is in the home is to study.
3. Ali father working in a mosque where he couldn’t get as much of money to afford his family. Where his acquittance gives the gardening tools to his father so he decides to go for work in the uptown and decides ali to take with him. The uptown is 15km from his home and decides to go by cycle from that point the film shows the huge tall building and roads where director doesn’t show from the beginning of the film. They both feel tired and becomes thirstier but the father doesn’t drink the water. Father finds struggles to speak but ali manages and helps to his father.
5. Yes there were many dilemmas in the flim were ali and zara must workout. There is a most beautiful scene were the sister finds out the old shoe which is worn by a girl less than zara’s age, she follows the girl and finds her house. Next day zara brought her brother and they see from a distance where her father is blind and they were living poorer than ali family and their father who is blind then both of them realized and they were not asked their shoes by seeing their family situation. They were solved their problem by their own hands without getting help by others.
6. the director ends the flim in mixed feeling were ali feels that he wouldn’t complete the race third so that he can buy sneakers so that makes him sad in parallel scene his father brought shoes and sneakers for both his children. I think the majidi ends the flim because it would be a twist in the movie because all the audience will except that ali would complete the race in third but the climax is different it also provokes whole movie and it also conveys chemistry between ali and zara relation.

ReplyDelete1. Ali's family is quite similar to my family but varies in some aspects. According to the film, Ali's father who was the breadwinner continues to work anxiously to provide his family. On the other hand, Ali's mother was looking after the family even though she was sick. In my family both of my parents are working so it does require assistance of myself and my brother to look after household stuffs. But Ali and Zahara took responsibility beyond their knowledge and age along with their academics. As Ali's father and mother weren't financially comfortable, it was upto Ali and Zahara to elevate their family. Hence, children are required to toil in their academics for a better future which is the wish of every parent.
2. After losing the pair of shoes which belonged to his sister, Ali was imparted with the guilt of losing them. Ali was determined to participate in a high profile students race knowing that the third prize was a pair of shoes and a vacation trip. So, Ali took this as a chance to satisfy his sister even after he couldn't make it up for her by giving a gold colored pen given by his teacher for getting good grades. He planned to stand in the third prize by allowing two students to run past him but unfortunately, Ali finished the race at a faster pace and was placed first. So the race was epic because it portrayed the sweet love and his sacrifice which Ali had for his sister.
3. Ali's father, anxious to earn more money, borrows some gardening equipment and heads off with Ali to the rich suburbs of North Tehran to find some gardening work. Ali's father approaches many houses but ends up yelled and kicked out by the house owner. Ali being educated and mature, proves to be of great help to his tongue-tied father. Finally, they come upon a mansion in which a six-year-old boy named Alireza lives under the care of his grandfather. While Ali plays with Alireza, his father works. When he is finished, Ali's father is surprised and elated by how generous the grandfather is. So this was how Ali aided his father.
4. There are a lot of things can be learned from The film "Children of Heaven". This
film shows that faith is the main role to build the highest human character. It is concluded that the main characters of the film showed faith is the fundamental point in human characters. The main characters, Ali and his family, are able to cope and solve their
problems especially dealing with their difficulties in poverty by having strong faith that manifested into some attitude like obedience to parents, honest and patient.
5. One instance from the film showed the children's maturity and sensibility. When the rag picker mistakenly took the shoes, Ali felt so terrible. But he confessed the truth to his sister and told her to keep it low from their parents. They both had a deal to share Ali's shoes to school which made Ali end up lately to the class. Ali discovered a way of winning the shoes(third prize) by participating in a race but unfortunately he lost his quest by winning the race. So these clips from the film showed how the children were aware of the situations in their home and didn't bother their burdened parents.
6. The director ended the movie in a very subtle and metaphorical way. Pair of shoes was the children's trouble for which they took efforts to make it up. At last, Ali's father got them new shoes which would've made the children happy again. But the children weren't aware that their issue is long gone. Zahara does her household work and Ali being heartbroken about his torn shoes, dips his blistered feet in the pool. The goldfish portrayed sign of luck in Iranian culture so the director gave they note that things were back to normal and it was indeed a happy ending.

ReplyDelete1) In this movie I enjoyed all the characters the role of family members in this movie is not the exact in my situation. But in certain things we have some mutual role. My mother shows the affection and love for us and she work for us in any situations. The movie also shows the mother role like this way. Ali and Zahra are responsible kids in their very young age they help their mother and do their work as a student. The same kind of responsibility was taken in my childhood and I help my mother when she was ill and also support my father in some works. The Father role in movie shows the love to their children and work for their welfare. My father work to improve my lifestyle. What were the situations we face we didn't fail to be happy, the same theme also followed in this movie.
2) The race is the only way for Ali to solve his problem. Ali came to know that if he won the third place he will get a shoe. He proved that he can win the race to his teacher. During the race he thinking only about to win the race for Zahra and remember all the struggle he faces. When he fell down in the race he doesn't lose his determination and fought till the end.
3) Ali's Father prepares to go for work and Ali joins with him. They both of them were travelling a long distance for gardening work because they didn't have this type of work nearby. Ali's father pushes the cycle over 15 km apart. They still searching for the work but they are still searching. Ali's father filling the air in tyre near a house in that house a boy approaches Ali to play with him but Ali refuses because he wants to help his father. The boy's grandfather gave the work to Ali's father and both felt happy. Ali's father work sincerely and get more appreciation and money from the boy's grandfather. Ali and his father were happy but while returning home they met with a minor accident.
4) The movie tells many moral values to us. It shows how the sibling should grow and how they face a problem and helping each other and show their sacrifices towards family. In such poor conditions the children are helping their parents along with their studies and happy in their life.
5) The problem starts when Ali lost his sister's shoes in a vegetable shop. Ali try to find the shoe but he failed in its try. Ali and Zahra were the same shoes for school. After Zahra finish her school she gave the shoes to Ali these are followed daily. Ali saw a race with third price of shoes, he enrolled himself in the race and he won the race with many obstacles. But Ali was not happy with the first place he apologies his sister at the end Ali's father brought a pair of shoes for both of them in that way he problem solved.
6) It was a happy ending. I love the climax of the movie. Ali fought for his sister in the race. Though he wins the race he can't get the shoes. In the end Ali's father brought shoes for both of them. Finally Ali and Zahra got their shoes as a appreciation for their hard times.
1)The family situation in Ali and Zahara family is very much similar to my family. In Ali and Zahara’s family, their father is a daily wager, So he doesn’t have that much money in hand every time. So therefore Ali and Zahara didn’t want to inform their father about their lost shoe and put the burden on him. On the other hand, their mother is always sick which leads them to do all domestic work in their home to help their mother. This the same similar situation in my family also but my father is not a daily wager and my mother is not always sick but I and my siblings always use to help our mother by doing all domestic work whenever we are free.
ReplyDelete2)The race is so epic because Ali is very determined to win the third prize in the race(a pair of shoes)as he had already promised his sister that he would get her a pair of shoes which he had lost due to his carelessness. So he didn’t even hesitate to beg his P.E master to participate in that race. He also plans to allows two of his competitors to surpass him at the end of the race but he becomes very sad when his plan failed ultimately leading him to win the first place in that race.
3)Ali’s father takes him uptown along with him as he gets equipment for gardening. He plans to do a gardening service in the town on Friday when he is off work to make additional income for running his family. He is very afraid and scared to approach the residents in the town as his son is with him, So he rings the bell and runs away as soon as the resident replies but Ali on seeing his father suffering acts wisely and decently approach the resident and manages to a client for his father.
4)This movie has lots of moral values for people of all ages. This movie beautifully shows how the bonding between siblings should be. It also tells how the relationship between parents and children should be. This movie also shows children how to face problems on their own in a very tough financial situation.
5)An example of rising action is the scene where Ali loses his sister's shoes at the vegetable shop. However, Ali confesses the truth to Zahara. They both were pushed to a situation where they didn't have any option other than to share the other pair of shoes. They tried to solve the problem temporarily but it didn't work out as Ali couldn’t go to school on time because of Zahara. It’s because they didn't want to put the burden on their parents in such tough times. But at last, their father buys them a new pair of shoes.
6)The director peculiarly ended the film. He stopped at the moment when Ali enters the home without shoes and his father entering the home at the same time with a new pair of shoes. He didn't show us how the children reacted on seeing the new pair of shoes. He left the climax to audience choice. But I think the last shot in the film automatically conveys that it’s a happy ending.

In the end, Ali was sad because he didn’t win the race and the old pair of shoes was also ripped. But if had known that his dad had bought a new pair of shoes for them, he would have been on cloud nine. That should be a happy ending!
1)Ali and zahra understood that they had responsibilities on their shoulders since their father was a daily wager and mother was sick. currently this is the situation in my family except my father is not a daily wager, but he works abroad and my sister is in the US. so me and my brother have to take care of all the house responsibilities.
ReplyDelete2) Ali was very determined to participate in the race and win the third prize which was a pair of sneakers, which he had lost, for his sister. but he was sad in the end because he had finished first and not third.
3) Ali's father had taken him along to the town as he had decided to do some gardening work in order to provide additional income to his family. he feels insecure to ask for a job as his son is along with him. but Ali on the other hand was brave enough and managed to get his father a job.
4)we must learn to be happy with what we have. situations are not always good for evryone. for some it may be difficult to meet their daily needs. so in these times, we need to understand the situatio n and try to be of most help rather than being a burden.
5) When ali lost zahra's shoe in the shop, he felt terrible and they had no option other than sharing the one pair of shoes. after zahra had finished school, she would come and give the shoes to ali, which would cause him to arrive late. ali tried to win a pair of shoes for his siter but he wasnt successfull. finally his father had bought them a pair of shoes.
6) i feel the director had ended the film with an open ending because he wanted the audience to visualise how happy and shocked both of them would be knowing what they had done. ali would be shocked to see that his father had already gotten a pair of shoes and he would be extremely happy whereas the father would be shocked and extremely happy to see his son working hard to get his sister the pair of shoes. i feel this feeling would have been more clearly conveyed if it was left open to the audience, just like how the director did. so overall i feel it was a happy ending

1.Ali and Zahra took responsibilities beyond their age, did all the chores assigned to them and also excelled in studies and other extracurricular activities. Now though I have certain responsibilities to do, at their age all I was expected to do is to study and play. So, their roles are completely different from mine. Both the kids’ father and my father share similarities since all fathers work hard for the wellbeing and happiness of their children. The only difference between them is that my father is not a daily wage worker and runs his own business. Like Ali and Zahra’s mother my mother does all the household chores and me and my sister help her in every way we could.
ReplyDelete2.After losing his sister’s shoe Ali was filled with guilt and looked for all possible way to correct his mistake. When he came to know about the race, he was determined to participate in it so that he could get his sister a new pair of sneakers which was the prize for second runner up. Though he finished first in the race he wasn’t happy with the victory because he couldn’t achieve his goal of gifting his sister a new pair of sneakers.
3.Ali and his father set off to the town in search of houses in need of gardening work so that it would support their income. Ali’s father was intimidated by the wealthy households. Also is inferiority complex and insecurity kept him tongue tied and hence he wasn’t able to speak through the intercom. On the other hand, Ali who was educated had no such reservations and was comfortable in conversing with others. Eventually he manages to get his father a job at a mansion.
4.Children of heaven emphasizes the importance of family values. Both the kids stood by their parents no matter what and was always determined to help them in all possible ways. Also, the kids were understanding and were ready to compromise at all situation. They adjusted and loved each other immensely - this was reflected in them sharing the same pair of sneakers instead of demanding a new pair from their father nor did Zahra blame her brother and bring out the secret of her brother losing her sneakers to her parents. Both the kids displayed maturity beyond their age and had compassion towards everyone around them.
5.Ali loses his sister’s shoe, confessed it to her and pleaded her to keep it a secret from their parents. Initially reluctant Zahra agrees to keep it a secret and both of them come up with solution to their problem. Both of them share Ali’s pair of shoes to school and also try to find Zahra’s shoe. In the end Ali decides to participate in a race so that he could get his sister new sneakers. They both handled the situation on their own.
6.The director gave an open ending and did not reveal the children’s emotions after getting the new pair of shoes their father got them. Since the climax of the movie was left to our imagination it is indeed a happy ending. Though Ali wasn’t successful in getting his sister the sneakers now he has nothing to feel sad about since his father had got them new pair of shoes. Now he can wholeheartedly celebrate his achievement of finishing first in the race without any guilt.

1)The roles of Ali and Zahra's family are different from my family. Each and every member's role is a perfect example of how middle class family suffers. Both children were matured way beyond their actual maturity. In that age ,my only job was to study and be happy.Nothing was there to worry. But these kids were suffering many more.
ReplyDelete2) The race was so epic because it was the only way by which Ali could get a sneaker for Zahra because the third prize of the race was a pair of sneakers.
3)Ali's father had some low confidence and was struggling with speaking. On knowing this, Ali spoke for his dad confidently and got him a job.
4) This movie has many moral values that can be inferred. Some of them are self contentment, sibling relationship and simple life living.
5) The scene in which Ali loses Zahra's shoe, he was feeling so guilty and told his sister not to tell parents. Then he sorted a way for the shoes by himself by sharing the shoes for half day. Inspite of missing classes, he still hold his grade. And he himself found about the race and had a motive to win the race to get shoes for his sister. During these scenes, he never asked help from anyone and they both solved the problem on their own.
6) The climax was an open ending where the father enter the home with new shoes and Ali entering the home winning the race. I think the director didn't want a selected ending and it can differ from the audience view. So for sure, it must be a happy ending
1) Ali and Zahra's family is Perfect example of middle Class Family . Ali's father continues to work anxiously to provide his family and his mother does her best to take care their family even though she was ill. Ali and Zahra took their Responsibilities and they didn't even ask their needs. To talk about my job I have Certain Responsibility and Main thing is study well but when i was kid my life is different from ali and zahra bcz i didn't took any Responsibilities i used to go school and Playing Thats it.
ReplyDelete2) This Race was so epic and great mix of Emotions. Ali didn't focus On Winning, his focus was to came third place in that Race.Because The second runner up will get the shoes as prize. Ali Promised his sister to get that shoe for her. While Running He Remember his promise was given to zahra so He Tried Too Hard To Get Third place. At last he came first Place. Everyone become so happy Except Ali because he didn't fulfill his promise which was given to zahra.
3) When ali and his father went to uptown his father was seeking for the job ,the owner scolded him hardly. On seeing this ali came to know that his father was struggling and He gained confidence and Spoke up in the place of his father. This Will help to get a job for his father and ali was very helpful to his father
4 ) This movie has many moral values can be inferred. Inspite of being young in age, Ali and Zahra were more responsible in their activities. They both understood their family condition and acted maturely. Ali continued the race positively even when a boy pushed him down during the race with a mindset of winning 3rd prize. He cleverly handled the situation at the uptown on understanding his father's situation.
5) In the scene, where Ali lost Zahra's shoes,he decides to tell it to Zahra and asks her not to tell mom and dad. So then he plans a solution to tackle this problem on their own. Ali and Zahra decides to exchange Ali's shoes. His shoes were used by Zahra during morning and Ali uses them in the afternoon. After that,Ali found out about the race and thought of wining 3rd prize which is a pair of sneakers. So these scenes clearly depicts that Ali and Zahra tackled all the problems on their own and never seeked anyone's help.
6) Director Majidi ended the movie as an open ending. Climax scene starts as the father enters the home with the new shoes And Ali enters the house with 1st prize he got in the race. After this the climax is completely audience's imagination. The feeling of Ali on seeing his father must surely be a happy ending.
1) Ali and zahra are far more responsible for their age. Ali's mother is poor and ill.where most of the household like washing and cleaning are done by her children. The family shown is middle-class and most of scene reminds their poverty. Ali's father is a hardworking and honest man. He works really hard to make their daily bread. He is different from common family man. He struggles to pay rent. But the whole family is like every family looking back each other. Some examples are so emotional Ali begging for a chance in race so he can win third price, Zahra keeping secret for his brother, Ali helps his father to find a job in rich house are so touching.
ReplyDelete2) The race is so epic because, it's creates a lot of mix emotions.Ali is so determined to get those sneakers. So he even begs his PET teacher for a chance. After some distance Ali became exhausted and at this time he remembered the promise he made to his sister to get a pair of shoes. This awaken the beast inside the little boy. Even though he leads the race he let two boys to over run him so he can get third price (for pair of sneakers) .
3) Ali and his father go uptown for work. But Ali's father is uncomfortable and hesitant to ask if they need any Gardner service. Seeing this Ali helped his father by asking the house owners need any garndner service. Finally Ali able to find one even though a child took a call.
4) The movies shows many moral values. The kids are so obedient and they understood the family situations. Ali and Zahra helped his sick mom. They never fights . Even though Ali lost Zahra shoe she never told her parents about it. Knowing that they can't afford a new show now. Kids shows great values that everyone should follow. They are obedient, caring, they forgive people(Zahra didn't ask for her shoe),truthfulness and honesty.
5) There are many rising action in the movie. One such is Zahra found her shoe and it owned by another girl. Zahra and Ali found the girls house. After knowing that girls father is blind they left and didn't make any problem. This show their maturity and they didn't even brag any problem in that small age. And there are times where Zahra is so annoyed due to her shoe loose. But the siblings always found a peace plan and never asked any help from anyone this shows their maturity .
6) The film ended by two frame 1) father bought the shoe by showing the carrier of cycle and another frame to Ali returning home without shoes. Director leaves the remaining scenes for audience imagination. Absolutely it's a happy ending Because, father returning home with new pair of shoes and director didn't showed the reaction of children because it might not suit well. So he went for open handed ending with giving a two ideal frame.

1.Ali and Zahra are given responsibilities beyond their age. They not only have the burden of school work but also have to take care of household chores.Children nowadays are spoilt by parents who give in to their whims without objection. As children,we are expected to study well and make our parents proud without being too troublesome. The characters in the story however display immense maturity. The mother takes care of majority of the household work even though she is unwell and the father who earns money by serving tea find it hard everyday to meet the family's financial needs.
ReplyDelete2.The race is so epic because even though Ali wins first place,he doesnt seem happy about it.He is disappointed that he couldnt keep his promise of winning 3rd place and getting the price of a pair of sneakers for his sister.Any other kid would have rejoiced the moment but Ali was more concerned of how his sister would react to this.
3.To get extra money,Ali's father decides to take the job as a gardener in the posh localities in the city Ali accompanies to assist him.The father is overwhelmed when he has to ask if the families require someone to trim their garden. He is almost driven away by angry shoutouts.Ali however manages to understand the situation and helps his father in finding a way to speak to the potential clients.Ali speaks with more confidence which could have been because he is educated.
4.The need to support ones family, empathy, forgiveness, respect to elders are few of the many values learnt from the movie. The siblings portray a very understanding nature in the relationship that they share among themselves and with their family as well.Their selfless nature is seen throught the film in many instances.
5.The entire concept of having only a single pair of sneakers for them to share is one of the solutions they came up with.Zahra had to run from school back home as soon as it had gotten over and Ali risked going to school late due to this exchange of footwear.Even though it was tiresome,it was the only solution they could find instead of troubling their parents to get another pair.
6.Eventually the movie does end happily even though the characters are left in sorrow in the last scene. The father purchases shoes for both the kids and is yet to give it to them who have no idea about this fact. The goldfish symbolize the realization of ones wish/desire and here they give comfort to Ali's sore and indicate that his long term wish would soon become true.
1. Ali and Zahra are took much more responsibility than their age. Ali's father works too hard though he is not well at times. Ali's mother is sick but she does household works.
ReplyDeleteI am expected to study and help my parents like Ali and Zahra.
2. Ali thought to get 3rd prize for Zahra. He convinced the coach and joined the race. He came first. But he was sad as he couldn't gift the shoes to Zahra. His efforts made the race so epic.
3.Ali and his father hoped to earn some money by doing garden works. Ali's father hesitated to speak in the gates. Maybe he could have felt inferior. Ali had no such feeling and helped his father.
4. Ali and Zahra were responsible children. They helped their parents, respected them, solved their problems by themselves without disturbing their parents, understood family situation and didn't demand for anything.
5. Ali lost Zahra's shoes. But Zahra needs her shoes for the school. Ali told Zahra they could use his sneakers. Morning she would wear it to school and by afternoon he would wear the same to school. By doing so they solved the problem on their own.
6. Yes, it is a happy ending. Finally, Ali and Zahra got new shoes.
1)The world seen through the children’s eyes is full of many difficulties, but there are always solutions to the problematic situations which can be found in close relations with relatives. This world view is followed by Ali and his sister Zahra who are the main characters of Majid Majidi’s Iranian film Children of Heaven (1997).
ReplyDeleteAli and his sister Zahra live in poverty in the poor Tehran neighborhoods and their struggles are associated with impossibility to satisfy their basic needs, the film is not about the social issue of poverty, but it is about the power of the familial love and relatives’ support; and these ideas influence the discussion of the social issues in the context of the individuals’ perception, or children’s perception in this case.
2)The theme of this movie is so universal there is not a child who will not be wide-eyed with interest and suspense. The film is about a boy who loses his sister's shoes.
3)When Ali (the film’s eleven-year-old protagonist) accidently misplaces the recently repaired shoes while picking up groceries, an entire plot is set in motion. To go to school, Ali’s sister must now borrow his shoes; Ali must consequently sprint to his afternoon classes to (unsuccessfully) avoid being late; the family cannot afford new shoes because they are poor; they cannot earn more money because the mother is ill, and even if they could the family is already behind on rent payments. What seems a small mishap snowballs into a calamity as the studious Ali is almost thrown out of school, an action that would effectively consign him to an inescapable life of poverty—all because he a lost pair of shoes.
4)The film accurately captures how one small event can trigger a catastrophic descent into extreme poverty for many of the world’s poor
5)Ali lost a sneakers of his sister and sister Zahra wants to wear a sneakers for school. There is a need a two pair of shoes and if parents konw that they gonna hit them both and also they can't afford to buy a new sneakers. This scene make ali and Zahra in a real trouble.
They solved the problem by themselves. And she wore the sneakers very happily then.
6)Majid Majidi is a genius. He is a director and actor of great talent. This film presents a sweet story of a brother and sister, their bond and their unique solution to solving the problem of a pair of lost shoes. The child actors are adorable and utterly convincing and the production of the film is of such quality that you get lost in watching it. The story itself is humorous, at times, and inspiring. Though the premise may be simple, each scene is infused with such passion, beauty and emotion that the experience of viewing this film is anything but simple. To all who have yet to view the film, take note of the very last scene and of course it was a happy ending.

ReplyDelete1)"Children of heaven "is about a home without happiness. There are some similarities in ali's and zhara's family when compared to my family. Ali and zhara were good children to their parent. They didn't want to much burden on his father as they hide that shoe was lost. Ali's father not had money and Ali's mother
Was sick and she needed Ali's help to certain things like washing clothes etc.. I think in their family there is too much burden on their children which is not at all fair at that point of age. In our family, I usually help my mom and dad in small things and I usually go to shop for buying necessary household things.
2) The race displays the Ali's determination to right the mistake that he made.
3) This film has a wonderful scene where Ali and his father bicycle from the almost medieval streets of the old town to the high-rises and luxury homes where the rich people live. The father hopes for work as a gardener, but he feels uncomfortable learned to ask the job because the wealthy ones are insulted him badly. His son jumps in, with offers of weeding, spraying and trimming. It is a great triumph.
4) Children of Heaven is a film that raises a spiritual theme. The film tells the story of a child's faith in facing some social problems, especially poverty. That in Children of Heaven, there is a very valuable moral value and it can be used as moral learning for children.
5) Ali lost Zahra's shoes, which disappointed her. To solve this problem, Zahra decided to wear Ali's shoe in morning and then afternoon made Ali to wear the shoes. By surprising their children his father bought shoes at the end.
6) This film has Happy ending though the director didn't show in picture how both children gets happy after seeing shoes which was bought by their father.Majidi's poetic endings that gives importance on revival, or the destruction of the new and beloved which is then replaced by the new
1) The roles of Ali and Zahra's family are quite similar to those in my family.Ali's father is a daily wager.so,Ali and Zahara didn’t want to inform their father about their lost shoe and put the burden on him. On the other hand, their mother is always sick which leads them to do all domestic work in their home to help their mother. This the same similar situation in my family also but my father is not a daily wager and my mother is not always sick but I and my siblings always use to help our mother by doing all domestic work whenever we are free.
ReplyDelete2) The race is the only way for Ali to solve his problem. Ali came to know that if he won the third place he will get a shoe. He proved that he can win the race to his teacher. During the race he thinking only about to win the race for Zahra and remember all the struggle he faces. When he fell down in the race he doesn't lose his determination and fought till the end.
3)Ali and his father go uptown to find some gardening work, anxious to earn money. The father feels uncomfortable talking through the intercom. He was intimated by the wealth of others and felt inferior, which made him keep his tongue-tied.
4)They didn't even spread a bit of hatred to anyone throughout the movie. They were helpful to their parents. Ali and Zhara didn't want to trouble their parents for sneakers. Zhara politely handled the situation when she knew her sneakers were stolen. The moral values they reflect proves the title 'the children of heaven'.
5)Ali didn’t want their parents to find out about his sister’s lost shoes, he told Zahra they could use his sneakers alternately when going to school.
6) Even though it's not happy ending movie,it is understood that eventually the father would give them the new pair of shoes to Ali and Zahra who have lost all hope of not getting the sneakers from the race.Even at the end,Zahra accepts the fact of not getting the sneakers and continues to go back to her household duties succumbing to reality.Ali,heartbroken for not being to able keep his promise rests his sore feet into the cool water with no sign of hope.
ReplyDeleteThe father portrays a poor man who has to work everyday to make their living.
4. The first thing that hit me hard was that we take our life for granted and there are people who struggle so much for food and living and we still complain about our life for silly things. The thing I learnt is we shouldn't take anything for granted and be happy with what we have.

6) Yes it was happy ending Ali's father brought many items and shoe for their kids. But the director didn't showed it.
1. Ali and Zahra are far more responsible for their age. Ali's mother is poor and ill where most of the household like washing and cleaning are done by her children. Their father has to work everyday in order to feed his family. In a common family, children are not expected to accompany their father to work, to perform physical tasks like washing clothes. They are expected to study and play.
ReplyDelete2. The race is so epic because, it's creates a mix of emotions. Ali is so determined to get those shoes since he promised his sister to get a new pair. So he begs his PET teacher for a chance. While he was running he became exhausted. He then remembers the promise he made to his sister to get a pair of shoes. So, even though he leads the race he let them overtake him so he can get third position for which the price was a pair of shoes.
3. Ali and his father went in search of work. In the beginning Ali's father was hesitant to ask for household work in the gates of wealthy. But Ali managed to do so. A little boy came to Ali and asked Ali to play with him. Ali refused as he had to work with his father. At last, they found garden cleaning work and with that they did some household stuffs made them earn money.
4. There are many lessons and morals that can be inferred and learned from this movie. Firstly, one must not take anything for granted-" The things that you take granted for are the same things that someone is praying for". Secondly, never spread hatred-" Hate has caused a lot of problems in the world but has not solved even one of them."
6. This wonderful movie had a wonderful ending. The director gives an emotional scene between Ali and Zhara was played, he then shows their father buying them new pairs of shoes. Even though the director stops the movie here, we can infer from the last shot that it was an happy ending.

ReplyDelete1) The roles of Ali and Zahra's family are quite similar to those in my family. Ali’s mother does her best to do the chores, even though she is ill. My mom does most of the chores in my home. In this film, Ali and Zahra have a lot of responsibilities as children as well as students.
2. After losing the pair of shoes which belonged to his sister, Ali was imparted with the guilt of losing them.He planned to stand in the third prize by allowing two students to run past him but unfortunately, Ali finished the race at a faster pace and was placed first. So the race was epic because it portrayed the sweet love and his sacrifice which Ali had for his sister.
3)Ali’s father takes him uptown along with him as he gets equipment for gardening. He plans to do a gardening service in the town on Friday when he is off work to make additional income for running his family.
4) Ali and Zhara both are well aware of their family condition and they help their parents. They know that they can't ask their father for a pair of shoes as he is not having much money. The girl with Zhara's shoes returns her pen that she missed the previous day.
The kids are obedient to their parents and performs the task assigned to them by their mother without any resistance.
5) Ali attended the class and got scold from principal but fortunately he got help from his teacher. But that sneakers problem was not solved , both of them aware about their parents problem. But atlast father was shown buying the two pairs of shoes.
6) Majidi gives us a reflection of our awakening spiritual lives, immature in its understanding of the world. Above all, he shows the life of a child with the inherent dignity it deserves, and that, to me,is what makes children of heaven the best film about childhood.

ReplyDelete1.Heart-touching story of a brother and sister and their poor family. A big hug to Majid Majidi, Ali and Zafra. A very good moral movie to be watched by both adults and children. As kids understand the value of money from very young age, how hardly parents are earning it, they would never waste a penny and also they too will study well and earn their living well.
2."Children of Heaven'' is about a home without unhappiness. About a brother and sister who love one another, instead of fighting. About situations any child can identify with. In this film from Iran, I found a sweetness and innocence that shames the land of Mutant Turtles, Power Rangers and violent video games.
3.In the world of children, small gestures and simple activities take on great meaning. Majid Majidi unravels these with careful attention — a perilous encounter with an angry schoolmaster, a moment of enchantment blowing bubbles, a time of panic when a sneaker falls in an active sewage drain, and the soothing comfort of cooling feet in the courtyard pond. Children of Heaven is a sheer delight from start to finish.
4.The movie is from Iran. Immediately you think kids would not be interested in such a movie. It has subtitles. Good lord! Kids will have to read them! But its subtitles are easy for 8- or 9-year-olds, who can whisper them to their siblings, and maybe this is their perfect introduction to subtitles. As for Iran: The theme of this movie is so universal there is not a child who will not be wide-eyed with interest and suspense.

ReplyDelete1.There are really no different.when I was a child,I used to help my father's small business.but Zahra's role ,I don't think so.
Mostly my parents expected me to do some work that came from outside.i do some buying stuff in near grocery shops.my parents aren't compare my works with anyone.
1.There are some similarities in ali's and zhara's family when compared to my family. Ali and zhara were good children to their parent.I usually help my mom and dad in small things and I usually go to shop for buying necessary household things.
ReplyDelete2. After losing the pair of shoes which belonged to his sister, Ali was guilt.Even though he leads the race he let them overtake him so he can get third position for which the price was a pair of shoes.
3.Ali and his father went to luxury home to get gardener work.He felt shy to speak through intercoms on the gate of wealthy. But ali proves to be a great help for his intimated father.
4.Ali and Zhara both are well aware of their family condition and they help their parents. They know that they can't ask their father for a pair of shoes as he is not having much money.
Ali did'nt punish the boy who pushed him in the race.Despite being 9 yrs old they are they are very responsible
5. When ali lost zahra's shoe in the shop, he felt terrible. They had no option other than sharing the one pair of shoes. After zahra had finished school, she would come and give the shoes to ali.Ali tried to win a pair of shoes for his siter but he wasnt successfull. finally his father had bought them a pair of shoes.
6.Though Ali wasn’t successful in getting his sister the sneakers now he has nothing to feel sad about since his father had got them new pair of shoes. So it was a happy ending
